Lore of Nauth
Draco-common words are long and drawn out. They are augmented often by a hiss with the tip of the tongue or an alveolar trill from the hard palette. Non-native speakers of the language rarely master the subtleties of the length and inflection of syllables, leading to mockery by native speakers.
In the Third Age, draco-common is still spoken by dragons and races descended from dragons. However, most races also speak their own dialect not generally taught to outsiders. Draco-common serves as a common tongue between the sub-races of scale-folk and a trade language between scale-folk and other races.
